Nylon Ganthiya – Fine, Feather-Light Gujarati Gathiya

Nylon ganthiya gets its name from its fine, thread-like strands, much thinner than regular ganthiya. Gram flour (besan) dough is seasoned simply with salt, papad khar and a pinch of hing, then pressed into hot groundnut oil. The result is a light, airy crunch with a mild, savoury taste.

Enjoy it with morning or evening tea, alongside papaya sambharo and chutney, or as a gentle snack for children. Its soft crunch also works well as a topping for sev usal, bhel and chaat.
