Moong Masala – Sweet and Spicy Masala Moong Dal

This namkeen starts with split green gram (moong dal), fried in edible vegetable oil until crisp. It is then coated in a masala of red chilli, Kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric, sugar, iodised salt and black salt. Each crunchy bite is sweet and spicy at the same time, with a warm red colour from the chillies.

Serve it with chai, sprinkle it over poha, bhel or sev puri, or keep a bowl on the table for guests. It also packs easily into lunch boxes and travel bags.
